Peter Walker and Peter Conlin

Luxury Aberdeenshire Country Hotel and Golf Course, Meldrum House, could be set to gain even more accolades as two of its staff are in the running for top Awards.

Peter Conlin, who has put Meldrum House on the map for its fabulous locally sourced cuisine is one of just eight chefs in the country to make the final of the Federation of Chefs Scotland "Chef of the Year" competition which will be held on March 2nd in Glasgow at Scothot, the country's premier hospitality, tourism and catering exhibition. Peter has already been through two culinary heats and will have to cook again in the final for a chance of winning the title.

Meanwhile, Meldrum's General Manager, Peter Walker is a finalist in the Scottish Young Hotelier of the Year Award, the winner of which will also be revealed at Scothot.

Peter Walker commented: "It is a great achievement to make it through to the final of any Awards scheme.  Our chef, Peter Conlin, has taken part in many competitions but for me this is a first. If either of us manage to collect another Award for Meldrum it will be fantastic. We are both really proud of Meldrum House and the part we have played in its success. Feedback from our customers demonstrates that we are getting it right and to have this recognised by our industry peers through being selected as finalists in such prestigious Awards schemes is a real bonus."

Since undergoing a recent £2.5 million investment programme Meldrum House has gained a host of new accolades including Visit Scotland 4* accreditation, an Eat Scotland Silver Award, Taste of Grampian Restaurant of the Year 2010 and the Trend Life with Style Hotel Star Award.
