MALMAISON SET TO HOST EXCLUSIVE JOHN BYRNE EXHIBITION 21/10/10

Malmaison in association with Peacock Visual Arts is set to welcome major Scottish artist John Byrne with an exhibition of new and famous work spanning his phenomenal 50 year career. 

The boutique hotel, situated in the smart West End of Aberdeen will act as a pop up gallery for one week from the 24th -31st of October.

John's work will be displayed in the reception, bar and brasserie as well as in the top Balmoral suite, where John will be meeting fans and signing autographs during a dinner in his honor on Saturday the 30th of October. 

The exhibition is open to everyone, and tickets for the dinner are available for sale from the hotel.

John Byrne is a Scottish artist and true renaissance man, having many diverse talents.

His work is held in major collections in Scotland and abroad with several paintings hanging in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh, the Museum of Modern art and Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow.

He has designed record covers for many famous artists, most notably the Beatles and Billy Connolly.

In 1986 John wrote the immensely successful six time BAFTA award winning television series Tutti Frutti, starring Robbi Coltrane, Emma Thompson and Richard Wilson.

John was married to Tilda Swindon, the Hollywood actress and produced a handful of famous portraits of the actress.

Now living in Edinburgh, John continues to produce outstanding work at the age of 70, having recently showed a play in Edinburgh and producing exclusive new work for his show at Aberdeen Malmaison.

 

John Byrne's working relationship with Peacock Visual Arts began in the summer of 2007.

 

This year he was invited John back to collaborate on a new body of prints to show at Malmaison Aberdeen.

 

The resulting exhibition includes Lithographs,Monotypes and Screenprints, all of which continue to explore John's personal narrative and themes.
