AECC staff shortlisted for National Award 21/06/10

The hard working venue support team at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) have been chosen as a finalist for the "Venue Team of the Year" Award at the prestigious UK's Association of Event Organisers (AEO) Excellence Awards. The AEO Awards, that take place this week, recognise and celebrate the achievements of organisers, venues, suppliers and contractors throughout the event industry in the UK.

Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director of AECC said, "We are proud to have such a dedicated team, and we consider them to be one of our greatest assets. To be shortlisted for this award gives our team the recognition they truly deserve, between them they have over 87 years of experience at AECC! A record breaking number of entries were submitted this year so to be selected as one of the finalists reinforces the exceptional work done throughout the year."

AECC are delighted to be the only Scottish venue to be shortlisted for this award (other finalists are Ricoh Arena in Coventry, and two London based companies; Alexandra Palace Events and EC&O Venues Customer Services).

The AEO Excellence Awards are open to all organisers, venues and suppliers operating in the worldwide trade and consumer exhibition and events industry. The key players in the industry will gather at Wembley Stadium on 22^nd June 2010 were the winners will be announced.

AECC contributes significantly to the Aberdeen City and Shire economy. In 2007/2008 the Centre bought 77.4 million pounds of economic benefit to the area, and following another highly successful Offshore Europe event in 2009, the economic benefit is estimated to be over £80 million in 2009/2010.
