About Aberdeen

Aberdeen is an inspired choice for business tourism of any kind whether it be a conference, an exhibition or a meeting. The city is a fascinating paradox which successfully blends both the traditional and the modern.

Aberdeen is well known for scientific achievement, culture, commerce and history as well as the international research which has resulted in the two universities in Aberdeen holding four Nobel prizes between them.

Aberdeen is also home to stunning scenery. Head out of the city and within fifteen minutes you can find yourself in the rolling countryside of Royal Deeside, sightseeing in castle country, taking the coastal trail north or south or heading for Speyside - the whisky capital of the world.

GETTING HERE
Aberdeen has excellent transport links in place making it easily accessible both from within the United Kingdom and also from abroad. Aberdeen International Airport is located just six miles to the north of the city and offers 18 flights per day to London, as well as direct flights to other major UK cities and to Northern European hubs such as Paris, Copenhagen and Frankfurt (from October 2011). Aberdeen also has excellent modern road links in place providing easy access to the city centre as well as a railway station that provides regular services to/from London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness as well as many other parts of the UK.

WHERE TO STAY
Aberdeen has in the region of 4,000 beds in properties which are classified between 3 and 5-star. In addition Aberdeen is also able to provide bed space in a variety of guest houses, bed and breakfasts and campus accommodation. In the surrounding area Aberdeen can also offer bed space in a variety of establishments.

VENUES
There is a wide range of venues available in Aberdeen, something to suit every occasion and budget. The venues vary from the traditional Music Hall to the high tech state of the art Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC). The AECC is able to provide 7,320 square metres of exhibition space and theatre style conference for up to 2,000 delegates.

RESTAURANTS
Visitors to Aberdeen won't go hungry either; Aberdeen is home to over 330 restaurants with a diverse range of cuisines ensuring that every visitor will find something to suit their taste buds.
